Arrival in Ubud
Our adventure began with a taxi ride to Ubud, amidst the lush green landscapes and vibrant culture of Bali. Our driver, Nyoman, quickly became a trusted guide, sharing stories about the region as we made our way to our destination. The excitement was palpable as we approached the cultural heart of Bali.

First Impressions of Ubud
Upon arrival, the beauty of Ubud captivated us. The streets were lined with greenery, and the charm of the quiet back lanes was enchanting. Our accommodation was a delightful little BnB, costing only £21 for the night, providing us with a cosy base for our explorations.

Coffee & Tea Tasting Experience
Before diving into the heart of Ubud, we stopped for a unique coffee and tea tasting. We sampled an array of flavours, including durian fruit coffee and mangosteen fruit tea, each sip revealing the rich agricultural heritage of Bali. The tasting was complimentary, with the opportunity to purchase some to take home.

Checking into Accommodation
After our tasting adventure, we checked into our accommodation, which exceeded our expectations. The ambience was inviting, and the location was perfect for accessing the various attractions Ubud has to offer. We felt a wave of relief wash over us as we settled in, ready to explore.

Delicious Vegan Dining
Food was next on our agenda, and we found ourselves at one of Ubud’s most popular vegan restaurants. The vibrant dishes, especially the Gado-Gado, were a feast for the eyes and the palate. The mix of flavours and colours was delightful, and we couldn’t help but rave about our meals.

Adventures in the Sacred Monkey Forest
Our excursion to the Sacred Monkey Forest was nothing short of exhilarating. The playful monkeys roamed freely, showcasing their curious and cheeky personalities. We were cautioned about maintaining eye contact, as it could be perceived as a sign of aggression.

As we ventured deeper into the forest, we encountered a particularly mischievous monkey that stole Adam’s wallet! Thankfully, a ranger quickly intervened, showcasing the cleverness of these creatures. The entire experience was a mix of thrill and laughter, highlighting the unpredictable nature of wildlife.

The forest itself was a stunning sanctuary, offering both tranquillity and excitement. Walking through the lush greenery, we were reminded of the unique bond between nature and culture in Ubud. It was a moment we would cherish forever.

Exploring Ubud’s Art Market
Ubud’s art market is a vibrant tapestry of colours, sounds, and smells. As you wander through the stalls, you’ll find a diverse range of handmade crafts, textiles, and artwork. The market is not only a shopping destination but also a cultural experience.

Local artisans showcase their creations, and bargaining is part of the fun. Don’t hesitate to engage with the sellers; many are eager to share the stories behind their crafts. From intricate wood carvings to beautiful batik fabrics, each piece reflects the rich Balinese culture.

As you explore, take a moment to enjoy the atmosphere. The sounds of chatter, laughter, and the occasional call of a vendor selling their wares create a lively backdrop. It’s an ideal place to pick up unique souvenirs or gifts for loved ones back home.

Relaxation at the Market
After exploring the bustling stalls, consider treating yourself to a massage. The market offers various wellness options, including traditional Balinese massages. Finding a quiet spot amidst the chaos is surprisingly easy.

Many massage therapists are highly skilled, providing a perfect way to unwind. The soothing music and fragrant oils add to the serene experience. You’ll leave feeling rejuvenated, ready to tackle more of Ubud’s wonders.
The Scenic Campuhan Ridge Trek
The Campuhan Ridge Trek is a must-do for nature lovers. This scenic walk offers breathtaking views of lush green hills and rice fields. The gentle trail is well-paved, making it accessible for everyone.

As you hike, take time to appreciate the natural beauty surrounding you. The tranquillity of the area is a stark contrast to the lively streets of Ubud. Along the trek, you may encounter local wildlife, adding to the charm of your adventure.

Lunch and Local Favorites
After your trek, refuel at one of Ubud’s charming restaurants. We stumbled upon a cosy spot known for its Gado-Gado, a local favourite. The vibrant colours of the dish, featuring fresh vegetables and creamy peanut sauce, were irresistible.

The atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing meal. Eating outdoors with a view of the rice paddies was a delightful experience. Pairing lunch with a fresh coconut made it even more refreshing.

Visiting the Tirta Empul Sacred Water Temple
A visit to Ubud wouldn’t be complete without exploring the Tirta Empul Temple. Renowned for its holy water, the temple is a significant site for Balinese Hindus. The atmosphere is filled with reverence, especially on full moon days when rituals are in full swing.

As you enter, you’ll notice the stunning architecture and the beautiful gardens surrounding the temple. Locals and tourists alike come here for purification rituals and bathing in the holy springs. It’s a unique opportunity to witness the intersection of spirituality and culture.

Don’t forget to partake in the free offerings of fruit available to all visitors. It’s a lovely gesture that embodies the welcoming spirit of the Balinese people.
